Amal Driouch is the Project Manager at Niagara College’s Walker Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (WAMIC), where she manages advanced manufacturing research projects in collaboration with SMEs mainly located in Southern Ontario.

Amal holds a BSc in Industrial Engineering from Mohammadia School of Engineers in Morocco, her home country; and an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Laval University. She is fluent in Arabic, French, and English. In her spare time, she volunteers with the Women in Nuclear Canada, Golden Horseshoe West chapter, and is chair-elect for the Toronto chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. In 2022, Amal earned her professional engineering licence in Canada, providing her with the PEng designation.

To understand better her work with SONAMI we asked Amal some questions:

What is your favourite type of project to run for SONAMI?
Anything new! When a partner comes in with a type of project we’ve never undertaken, this brings a lot of new energy to the group, as we all need to work collaboratively to come up with a solution.

I would use SONAMI to enhance my market offerings and to position my business for growth.

What kind of projects did you do during the pandemic?
In addition to technology-related COVID-19 partnerships and other COVID-19 projects focused on supporting frontline workers, we are running projects in advanced manufacturing areas.

What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of being part of the wonderful Niagara College Research & Innovation team, who is the initiator and the leader of SONAMI.
